Napa Cabbage Salad Recipe

Winter citrus can really liven things up, in flavor and aesthetics. This recipe is easy, plentiful, and full of flavor, without too many ingredients.

Ingredients

  • 1 Head of Napa Cabbage
  • 3 Carrots
  • 1/2 a Large Orange or 1 Small
  • 1/2 a Lemon
  • 1/4 Cup Avocado Oil
  • 1 Tsp. Soy Sauce
  • Chili Flakes
  • 2 Tbsp. Sesame Seeds
  • 1 Tsp. Sea salt
  • Citrus Varieties
  • Cilantro
  • Spring Onion or Red Onion

Instructions

  1. Chop 1 head of napa cabbage. Place it all in a bowl.
  2. Sprinkle 1 Tsp. of Sea Salt all around the cabbage. Then massage the cabbage with your hands.
  3. Sprinkle the leaves with chili flakes. About 1 Tsp. or whatever you can handle.
  4. You can cover this and put it in the fridge overnight or use it the same day.
  5. Mix a dressing in a measuring cup with juice of half a big orange, 1/2 a lemon, 1/4 cup of avocado oil, and 1 tsp. of Organic Tamari, and a little bit of chopped cilantro. Make sure you use a handheld citrus squeezer to get all the juice out, otherwise if you do it by hand just use more of the fruit.
  6. Toss the dressing with the cabbage.
  7. Shave 3 carrots, and top the salad with them.
  8. Toast the sesame seeds in a stainless steel pan. Mixing the seeds with a wooden spoon. Don't use any oil, and be careful not to forget about them. Once they're ready they then burn quickly. You'll smell the aroma, and see that they start to look oily and a perfect brown color.
  9. Top the salad with the sesame seeds, more cilantro leaves, chopped spring onion or a few slices of thinly sliced red onion.
  10. Then add slices of citrus.

Notes

Store it in an airtight glass container in the fridge. You can add it to other dishes as you go throughout the week.
